Elect Sam Matier to the Merriam City Council

My videos below illustrate that I have spent more time understanding city issues than any other candidate and have always supported the wishes of the public. The videos below are only a small portion of the videos I have collected over the past four years.

July 29, 2018
On the last day at the Merriam swimming pool, I intervied residents on their opinion of the reduced size swimming pool at the new community center.

Respected Merriam resident says we have a "Failure of local government that is supposed to exist to serve it's community."

October 24, 2016
I asked the city council to allow residents to vote on whether to build a new community center. After making comments at several council meetings, the city council finally decided that they would allow a public vote on the community center. I also explained that residents are not in favor of spending over $500,000 on art sculptures that my opponent Staci Chivetta's art committee recommends.

Again, I asked for the city council to allow residents to vote on the community center.

Nancy Hupp and Christine Hands were the only council members that voted to choose the smallest swimming pool for the new community center. (1 minute 30 seconds)

I wrote the petitions to get a larger swimming pool. Our group of over 15 voulunteers circulated the petitions and gathered 900 signatures of residents that were frustrated over the cities bait and switch on the new pool. After we presented the petitions to city, the city said they were not valid. That's fraud and misrepresentation of residents. This video shows the happy day our volunteer group delivered the petitions to city hall.

Council member Christine Hands says that all our basic needs have been met so we can now spend over $500,000 on artwork without voter approval. I recommend we let businesses donate public art and place their name on the art sculpture as done by other cities.

October 1, 2018
The lies that the city told Merriam residents inorder to get their vote for the new community center. The citizens committee put together a window display featuring Pinocchio's growing nose.

April 25, 2017
I question the City Administrator on the financial facts of the new community center. Many candidates have not lived through these kinds of issues to gain my experience.

June 9, 2018
Residents Give Public Comments on Swimming Pool (41 minutes)

April 9, 2018
Concil member Nancy Hupp wants heavy restrictions on home occupations. I don't believe a person working on their computer from home needs an occupation license.

March 7, 2018
Residents learn that the city wants to have more severe regulations on home occupations and they make public comments to the planning commission.
